Three years ago, I planned to be a “professional travel blogger” after I was inspired by Dan Flying Solo, Salt In Our Hair, and Do You Travel bloggers. Their photos, vblogs, and stories are really amazing and each time I read their article I have this massive imagination that I was there in the picture too. It’s funny how we can relate to some people’s life stories.
Unfortunately, to be a professional travel blogger is not as easy as it what it looks online. Behind the scene requires a lot of brand collaboration, professional branding, SEO on WordPress, perhaps a marketing team and consistency on social media posts. So, I dropped the idea of a “Pro Travel Blogger” because I can’t afford to travel on a weekly basis. In reality, I have startups to look after that are not easy to just nomad it online,I study part-time at grad school and I have other zillion things to do than to just blog about my life. #StrugglesAreReal
I can safely say that I only travel every school holidays and long-weekend in Singapore. I planned the year calendar so I can budget everything from affordable flights, 4-star accommodation, and holiday activities. The Booking.com makes it easy for me because as a genius member I am entitled to discounts from 10%-30% off, depending on the offer of the hotels of course. Also, since I like to nomad everything online, I am able to get deals from hotels, spas, and restaurants. You can say whatever you what to say that “I’m a cheapskate” lol or someone not in your level because “I can’t afford” but if you’re practical and not a successful entrepreneur yet, you gotta do what you need to do to save money. So, if you want to know how to travel to Phuket without getting broke, read the details below.
Let's start with the accomodation:
I stayed with family at Peach Hill Hotel & Resort located 2 Leam Sai Road, T.Karon, A. Muang, 83100 Kata Beach, Thailand. From the international airport to the hotel takes about an hour. If you do not have a shuttle service and if you prefer to get a standard airport taxi it costs 1,200 baht. The drivers in Thailand are friendly and easy-going. The hotel has most of the popular facilities every guest needs – swimming pools, free wi-fi, family rooms with balcony, fitness center, bar, spa, and restaurants.
Why I selected this resort?
According to my research, the location is less than a 10-minute walk from Kata beach. The resort has two buildings and I stayed at White Hill. So, from White Hill lobby go straight and turn right you will see the Kata beach at the end of the road.
I also like the fact this hotel is located between Kata and Karon beaches so you will have the best of worlds. If you like to shop or have the best spa, walk to Karon beach.

Where to eat around the hotel?
Before I travel, I already budgeted the food for a few days which also means I didn’t plan to order any in-room dining that will cost 30% more (tax + service fee). The hotel is surrounded by restaurants from local Thai to European cuisines all you have to do is to get out of the room, go to the lobby and turn right towards Kata beach. Along the way you will discover restaurants in the street.
These yummy meals cost only 850 baht. Of course, how you spend or eat more depends on your budget. Like what I’ve said, I’m a budget momma. 😊
What To Do At Night?
Your activities depend on who you travel with. If you’re a travelling parent, walk around Kata beach and you will see restaurants with kids’ menu. If you’re a travelling couple, enjoy the spa in Kata road where you can enjoy 60-mins spa for only 400 baht. If you’re travelling with friends, there are bars in Kata road that opens until 2 am.
If you’re a naughty traveler, Kata beach is not the right location for you. LOL I suggest that you change your route to Patong beach. The Kata beach is more for family and lovers’ type of travelers.
What To Do In Kata Beach?
There are many things to do in Kata, especially if you stay at the Peach Hill Hotel & Resort you will have the best view of the beach. It used to be named Kata Viewpoint but was renamed Karon Viewpoint due to the fact that Kata belongs to Karon municipality.
The best time to go to Kata is morning and afternoon before sunset. Visit the Kata Noi Viewpoint Bars, Dino Park Mini Golf, Surf House Phuket, Kata Noi beach, Kata Night Market, Kata Temple and do street shopping. Because I’m a mum, I didn’t go to all the places in Kata because my son’s patience to walk is limited. I don’t want him to be too tired that I may end up carrying him from Kata beach back to the hotel. Ha ha.
Where To Have The Best Spa In Kata?
For me, the best spa depends on what you look for. If you are into a hardcore massage, I suggest getting a Thai massage. If you’re like me that into wellness and fragrance, I suggest getting an oil spa. If you’re in a budget, go to Kata beach and you will find lots of affordable massage for 60-mins for only 400 baht.
When it comes to quality of spa and wellness, I suggest that you visit Thanya Spa Phuket located at 83100 Ban Kata Phuket and only 6-mins walk from Peach Hill Hotel & Resort. To make a reservation: mobile: 094-8275888. They offer different types of spa package for one person, couple and family. The staff, manager and owner at Thanya Spa are friendly.
What Else To Do In Kata?
If you’re in a budget trip and you intend to stay for many days in Phuket just hang out at the hotel & resort and you will have a great time. The Peach Hotel & Resort boasts two outdoor bars; one has a view of the Kata road and one has a view of the mountain. Sip on signature Thai cocktail drinks – a cheeky taste on the classic tropical drinks – as you bask in the sun. This hotel & resort are perfect for family with small children and young couples. During day time, it can be noisy because it’s near the main road but it’s equally enjoyable on laid-back weeknights too.
I don’t go to the bars, drink alcohol and walk in the street at night if I travel with my child for safety.
