Could you believe I am now in my early 30s? Me too! 😂 I had a hard time accepting the reality that I’m no longer young. It was sucks but now it doesn’t because becoming matured means you can handle a situation better than before.
But what did I really learned in my 20’s that have changed my life in my 30’s? Allow me to share.
This is the secret that only entrepreneurs who made money online know. The secret I would have thanked a fairy god mother to teach me how to do it. But before I share it, I need to get rid this off from my chest. The kind of people that I really hate are people who are too proud of their background; “first world passport” or “my race is better than yours” to the point they don’t make friends to people like me – poor foreign student turned a business resident in Singapore. They don’t see value in you and no matter how much your net worth, for them it’s still zero.
I was undervalued but not anymore.
Many years ago, I came to Singapore as a broke foreign student who worked at McDonald’s to making a profitable business. My goal for 2019 is to help others realize their fullest potential and together we can collaborate to make a successful business. Note: I don’t define success by showing off luxury bags on Instagram because that’s kinda lame to tell people you can afford expensive stuff. The true entrepreneurs who make good money are the people who do not own expensive shits and show it off on social media. Here’s the reason why: entrepreneurs are scared of high taxes. LOL Thus, it is better to make our lifestyle reasonable and lowkey for as much as we can possibly maintain.
Now let’s get back to business.
One of my biggest mistakes in my early twenties is that I allowed the society to program me. My parents have promised me that a higher education will give me a better job, I was promised happiness, strategy, and motivation to become successful. None of it is true because schools have false advertisement. And to tell you honestly, I learned more from reading a book, researching on Google, watching YouTube tutorials and collaborating with new friends than listening to some of my lecturers at grad school that cost my scholarship over 30,000 dollars.
Pursuing high education is the biggest lie in my life because not only it is a waste of money but also a misleading promise. I have a law degree but still my net worth was zero in 2013.
Fancy schools didn’t teach me how to survive and how to become successful in the real world. Schools sucks slowly the creativity side of me.
Now before I give you the tips 101 here’s what I learned from my 20’s…
Your success doesn’t start from having rich parents but by connecting with good friends.
Social strategy is one of the best strategies you could ever use if you’re an entrepreneur. Therefore, you shouldn’t create enemies, don’t engage in unnecessary arguments and you should make alliances with people who can possibly help you reach your goals.
For example, when I was in the university one of my classmates is such a bitch to the point, she didn’t invite me in social gatherings because she hates Filipino. 10 years later, she has to relocate to Manila because of her job. Her role is to connect with the local politicians to make a business deal. One day she sent me a friend’s request on Facebook and message me, saying we were good friends back in the university and asked me a favour if I can connect her with the senator’s office in the PH for a mining company deal.
What was my response? Ignorance.
The lessons here is don’t be proud that you will discriminate people just because you believe your passport is better than anyone else. Alliances don’t start after graduation at school it starts when you become good friends in the classroom and when you’re nice to people. Your passport won’t give you privilege in life but your positive relationship with people will.
Start saving money as soon as possible.
When I started to have a professional job at 21, I spent all my money for the things I didn’t even need. I have a collection of stilettos I don’t even understand why I bought it the first place. As I get older, I learned the importance of saving money that can be used for a lot of things in the future – condo, house, retirement or for all kinds of life’s emergencies like losing a job, or a car accident.
So, if you’re in your twenties and you land on my blog and reading this article right now, take this word from me start saving money as soon as possible.
Eliminate Negative People.
I used to be the person who pleased everybody because I don’t want to be hated. Let me just say, I’m a natural sweetheart. LOL But as I get older, I learned that you shouldn’t give too much shit about what others think of you, you shouldn’t waste time to people who don’t treat you fair, and you shouldn’t make friends to people who didn’t see your worth. If people dislike you because you’re different, leave them alone and focus on yourself to be better.
Now here’s the fun part begins…how to hustle in your 30s if you screwed up in your 20s?
But warning: if you’re not serious about self-improvement, if you’re happy with your 9-5 job and you don’t want to build a business then don’t read my article. It will just waste your time. It contains my secret to making enough money to follow my passion, paying the bills and not worrying about how to make a living ever again. My tips may not be as good as others so take my advice at your own risk.
FIRST OF ALL FIND YOUR NICHE.
Before you showcase your products or services, it is important to find your niche. Your brand won’t speak to anyone. It has to speak to the right group of people so it can be heard and the customers will really relate to.
For example, people may assume that I’m one of those wannabe beauty bloggers that sell cosmetics because it’s trendy. The truth behind our brand is we make it from scratch – raw materials, collaborating with labs, working with logistics to assisting customer services through blog and social media. While the behind the scene work is crazy and stressful but we make it looks easy so our target customers will relate to.
We are not selling to everybody. We are selling to stay-at-home mums, university students, aspiring entrepreneurs and drop shippers that can relate to our brand’s stories. It may not be a lot but it is through their loyalty that we can scale the business.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT PLATFORM.
Not everyone is comfortable in video recording and therefore, to create a YouTube channel can be challenging. Personally, I’m not good at editing videos and I have no professional skills in make-up. It’s a huge struggle for me to maintain a YouTube channel.
However, I use my blog as a platform to express myself, to showcase our products and to communicate with my target readers.
By choosing the right platform you can leverage your skills. If you’re clever in short videos, create a few minutes videos on Instagram story. If you’re clever in writing, start a blog. If you like to talk a lot, be a podcaster. If you like to entertain your family and friends, use Facebook Live video. No matter what platform you use but if you’re passionate in what you do you can definitely leverage it.
SELL YOUR PRODUCTS OR SERVICES.
So, you finally select the right platform and now you’re ready to showcase your products or services. The question is HOW? I suggest to use WordPress.org and buy a premium theme to customize it. Buy a hosting from SiteGround because they’re reliable and their customer service is 10x better than GoDaddy. Finally, download the Woocommerce in your WordPress plugins to start selling. Don’t forget to connect your PayPal and/or Stripe to accept payments.
Let’s say you want to sell t-shirts for the price of $5 but your brand is not popular yet. Don’t worry you can use your inner contacts (friends and social media followers) to purchase your items. Everyone has cousins, classmates, office mates, parents, aunties and online friends sell your $5 t-shirt to them. If you have 400 supporters x $5 that’s already $2,000. Imagine if you use that $2,000 to buy more products, to pay for Facebook ads and online marketing you can leverage it to more people and thus, it will multiply your sales.

CONSULTING BUSINESS IS A GOOD BUSINESS.
Another way to make money online is via consulting. Ask yourself what field you have an expertise. Is it running a startup, advising in corporate law, or teaching people online? If you use your skills and expertise to help people they will be willing to pay you to teach them. You can leverage it by using a webinar platform and your users will have to pay to watch your videos to learn from you.
SELL eBooks on Amazon.
You probably heard this a lot but selling eBooks on Amazon can be a legit income. If you’re good in writing and you have the passion to create an eBook then sell it on Amazon as the best platform. My best advice is not to write a horrible story about someone just to make money. Think about lawsuit and a lot of it. 😋
SPONSORED POSTS ON YOUR BLOG.
If you have a website, blog or a large social media following, you can possibly make money through sponsored posts and ads. How does it work? Create a professional blog or maintain your favourite social media professionally. Once you have professional content, create a media kit and proposal and finally, reach out to brands of your choice. Companies are willing to pay bloggers and social media influencers to promote their products or services. I got my first gig in 2015 on Twitch when I played video games live. I got paid $400 per game from over 1,000 viewers. One gamer fan has sent me an arcade stick from the States to Singapore.
YOUTUBE.
I read so many articles that YouTubers can make a decent profit up to $70,000 a month. Tell me if that amount is not good enough? YouTubers earn money through advertising and brand collaboration. Therefore, the more viewers you have the more you can possibly leverage your channel. The secret is to choose your niche and be consistent in what you do.
HERE’S A REAL-LIFE EXAMPLE OF MY BUSINESS.
Since I love dolling up I’ve thought it would be more fun to use my knowledge in chemistry to make beauty products and to use my skills in social media to promote it. As results, my team and I are selling beauty products on this platform.
Visit www.kgodfroycosmetics.com.ph and use Nudesituation to get 30% off if you purchase a minimum amount of PHP 600. We deliver nationwide in the Philippines.
Now here’s the fun part about working online.
Forget about what the society has programmed you to make a decent living. Making a decent income doesn’t necessary has to come from working 9-5 in a desk. If you’re tired of office politics, you hate your boss, you hate the office system or simply you want to have a hustle job then create a platform that you can offer your expertise, products or services. Imagine having the flexibility to enjoy the little things in life such as brunch on a weekday with friends, chilling by the pool or simply to travel whenever you want because you CAN! The possibilities are endless.

My ex bought me LV scarf in 2005. The good thing about original stuff is the fabric is high quality. lol I left the ex but I kept the scarf.
